Accomplishments

Anyone can tell you what they're "going" to do during an election, look at what I've already achieved in Ward 1!

The Zancor Centre

Zancor Centre.jpg

Eight years ago, you trusted me to advocate for the future of Ward 1. Together, Council delivered the Zancor Centre - the largest investment in King Township history! The Zancor Centre located in Ward 1, opened January 26th, 2025, with world class amenities including an aquatics centre with a six-lane lap pool and leisure pool, two NHL-sized ice rinks, spectator seating, an artificial turf fieldhouse with a running track, and a multi-use community space. I am deeply proud to have overseen this incredible facility from start to finish! Now, it's time to look onward. For my third term, my focus is clear: I will leverage my experience to advocate for the crucial funding needed to build outdoor soccer fields, baseball diamonds, tennis courts and pickleball courts on the Zancor Centre grounds. With your continued support I will improve upon the work already done and make the Zancor Centre a generational facility for all Ward 1 families to enjoy!

Traffic Calming Program

I worked collaboratively with Council to develop and approve our first Traffic Calming Policy, which has successfully reduced vehicle speeds and enhanced safety for local families. In Ward 1, these vital safety improvements have already been implemented on Nicort Road, Spring Hill Drive, Dew Street, Tatton Court, 19th Sideroad, Banner Lane, Elizabeth Grove, and King Boulevard.

King Road and Keele Intersection Improvements

Managing traffic at King Road and Keele Street has long been a priority, especially regarding rush-hour volumes on local streets. I spearheaded the push for a York Region design that protects our historic heritage properties while optimizing traffic flow. While this was a complex project, once fully completed, residents can expect a better-functioning intersection that significantly reduces shortcutting through our neighbourhoods.

Improving Our Neighbour Parks

Ward 1 is a vibrant hub for families, and our local parks are vital spaces for children to play, stay active, and connect. I am incredibly proud to have directly led the effort to deliver a brand-new splash pad for Salamander Park—a wonderful milestone for our community. Moving forward, I will continue to actively champion investments in our Ward 1 parks to ensure families have exceptional outdoor spaces to gather and enjoy.

Winter Maintenance Improvements

After listening to widespread resident concerns regarding the heavy sand debris left behind by winter plows, I successfully advocated for a policy shift to implement a full-salt mixture for our urban roadways in 2024. Thanks to this initiative, our community now enjoys significantly cleaner streets during the spring thaw, alongside safer, better-maintained roads all winter long.

New Signalization for Alex  Campbell Crescent and Warren Road

King Road serves as a major Highway 400 bypass, bringing heavy commuter traffic through King City. After much advocacy, I am proud to announce that York Region has approved a new traffic signal system at Alex Campbell Crescent/Warren Road for 2027. This is a major win for residents facing daily left-turn delays. Moving forward, I will continue to champion infrastructure investments to improve traffic flow and community safety.

A Greener Future

Together with Council, I endorsed the Corporate Energy and Management Conservation Plan, driving efficient upgrades to lighting, smart building systems, and emissions tracking. A major highlight was the opening of the Zancor Centre, Canada's first combined aquatics and ice-sports facility to achieve a Zero Carbon Building Design Certification. Furthermore, King Township successfully reduced corporate greenhouse gas emissions to 1,338.60 metric tonnes—a nearly 10% decrease from the 2022 baseline that proudly surpasses our 2026 cumulative reduction target.

Fiscal Responsibility

Over my past two terms on Council, maintaining a disciplined and transparent approach to municipal finances has been a consistent priority. By balancing vital infrastructure investments with resident affordability, Council and staff have kept our average annual tax increase well below the rate of inflation over the last eight years. This includes successfully delivering a zero percent tax increase in two distinct years, offering direct relief without compromising essential township services.

This sustained commitment to financial excellence is reflected in our municipality receiving the prestigious Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for five consecutive years. This recognition is only granted to governments meeting the highest standards of transparency and accountability. Earning this distinction stands as a testament to our ongoing promise to manage your tax dollars with the utmost care, professionalism, and integrity.

Ready to Make a Difference?

Your voice is the heartbeat of our community. Whether you want to volunteer, share your ideas, or just say hello, I'm here to listen and work together.
